I mostly post drawing studies here, will also be very opinionated too as headsup lol.

Goal for this year: striving for independence and not caving into peer pressure so much. For as long as I can remember, I've constantly disavowed my own interests and beliefs just to fit into whatever social group I randomly got myself into. Things I've once loved have now make me feel dirty (1/2)

I've spent the last three hours doing nothing but reading and it's been amazing. Just wonderful. Highly recommend.

Took part in @peanutscollab.bsky.social and redrew a classic Peanuts strip, one of my favorites. I believe a lot of my artistic impetus is attributed to Schulz, so it's hard to not draw these characters how he himself drew them without feeling like sacrilege, so I forced myself to work differently.

I know this is complicated and film degrades and it’s near impossible to get a scan of film to color match

but

Film just has such a great ~*aesthetic*~ that I miss. God, The Lion King, specifically CoL, benefits so much from that lovely gold-shifted glow considering it’s a morning scene.
Pixar designed Toy Story to be printed on physical film. The Disney renaissance movies were the same.

Today, it's hard to see them as they were meant to be seen. The versions on streaming and home media aren't quite the same films that ruled the '90s:

Just found out that the creator of Apple and Onion is working on a Netflix show, and it just dawned on me how incredibly samey looking HB Studios Europe productions are. They all look like uglier variations of post S3 Gumball if it didn't have the multimedia aesthetic to back it up artistically.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Warner Bros. entering the home video industry.

The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Movie was among the first of 20 titles released on VHS and Betamax under WCI Home Video in January 1980.

Blazing Saddles had the first catalog number, WB 1001.

This isn't that similar but I was reminded of those equally shitty "official" pillows of Garfield and Odie (standing?) and honestly I do have to question if Nick's merchandising guys even give a shit anymore.
