Not the first person to make this observation, but it's so striking how the media covered the crack epidemic as a problem caused by black/urban drug users and the fentanyl epidemic as a problem imposed externally on white/rural drug users.

I just learned that eel sauce has that name because it’s served on/with eel, not because it contains any eels. I started to look up the recipe but stopped cause I couldn’t think of any ingredient that would stop me from enjoying it, as I was already happily eating something I thought had eels in it

Xmas is over. Yesterday was good. Great-ish? Today is back to more of the same. Either numb or devastated. Or exhausted. But the exhausted stuff is not new, so I know how to deal with that

Normally thanksgiving is a full table, but not this year. On the way to our lonely dinner I saw a coyote that had been hit hard enough to be decapitated. Bludgeoned body on one side of the road, head mouth agape on the other. Happy Thanksgiving
