Can we please return to the politics of belief?

To the Enlightenment values of logic and empirical truth?

Starmer today had the chance to show he was more interested in truth than saving face to retain power.

youtu.be/nuPUMEchJPY?...

He failed.

End the 'post-truth era' gaslighting - please!

A strong argument stands on its own merit.

A weak argument has no merit.

It depends on bullying to enforce compliance.

Hence the tactics of Trans Activists at Sussex and across the world.

Kathleen Stock's book 'Material Girls' is an amazing read.

DWP is using a sleight of hand in its disability benefit cuts impact assessment: Actual increase in poverty is closer to 400,000, not the 250,000 in the impact assessment.

Quick thread explaining why. 🧵1/7

Sorry Colin, I have to correct you there.

Not finding evidence against Sturgeon is not the same thing as finding her innocent of any wrongdoing.

She is still likely to be thought of as 'untrustworthy'.

Look what she did to Alex Salmond, who was actually found innocent.

Or Joanna Cherry.
Isn’t it odd* how unionists constantly criticise the SNP’s management of the police (despite falling crime levels), but never criticised Plods glacially slow branchform investigation which has now found Nicola Sturgeon innocent of any wrongdoing?
*by odd I mean ‘par for the hypocritical course’

So she did nothing.

Just like she did for #ScottishIndependence

As far as I can see all she succeeded in doing was destroying #WomensRights

She certainly did nothing to protect Joanna Cherry's rights.

'you try to dress up you sneering contempt as a desire to "get people back to work" '

Exactly.

Interesting that he lists 3 Scottish politicians as Labour's political giants.

There's a wee clue there: we need #ScottishIndependence.
Recently ex-Labour MSP holds no punches in his resignation letter to Starmer... "what gets me most is the lies you tell when you try to dress up your sneering contempt as a 'desire to get people back to work'"

Classic blog giving the inside story on how Alba works.

How do they make policy?

Not democracy, members, or principles.

New ideas?

As Tas bellowed at one Conference Committee meeting "THAT'S A BIG NO FROM ME!!!!"

No wonder their numbers are dropping.

As if there were not already enough distrust of the Scottish Police:

www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politic...

'it was revealed the force have threatened female staff with disciplinary action if they raise concerns about this guidance.'

Does this explain the policing of Womens' Rights demos?
Police Scotland could face law suits after allowing men in women changing rooms
Numerous public bodies under the Scottish Government have introduced guidance which allows trans people to self-identify and use whatever facilities they want, eroding single-sex spaces.

Missing from the list: Joanna Cherry, Sandie Peggie.

Sturgeon is too confused about what a woman is to belong on the list.

Why isn't the BBC questioning Labour about its justification for huge benefit cuts and why they won't consider alternatives? Instead it's presented as inevitable and not as a political choice.

#LabourAusterity
There is an alternative to Government welfare cuts - a 2% tax on wealth. There is no shortage of money here, we just need a fairer approach to tax - take more from the few not the many.
