Hard to believe I’m watching snow fall now after a day like yesterday. Beautiful walk full of amazing nature encounters in the oldest migratory bird sanctuary in North America. Saw a few snow geese 😂. I’ll share more after I get through the photos! 🌿 #birds #prairie

I find this study fascinating.
A week on from #StormAmy 🌬️ data from our tagged Whooper Swans show both storm assistance & storm displacement. Some birds made rapid migrations, others battled the elements – some out at sea for 55 hrs! As North Atlantic storms grow more frequent, understanding their impact is vital. 🦢 #Ornithology

Something cool to start your weekend: a Blue Jay x Green Jay hybrid from Texas! #ornithology
Rare blue-and-green hybrid jay spotted in Texas is offspring of birds whose lineages split 7 million years ago
The hybrid bird is the product of two species whose habitat ranges began to overlap a few decades ago, potentially due to climate change, researchers said.
