Haven’t seen noctulescent clouds since I lived in MT. What they are are clouds that are so high up that they’re still in daylight at their altitude while the sun has set in the evening (or has yet to rise in the morning) and appear to glow in the dark: hence the name. #nmwx

Had to say goodbye to this sweet girl last week. Even though she was scared of thunderstorms, she felt safe(r) in the car on a chase. I’ve been a basket case for the last couple of weeks. RIP, Penny. #rainbowbridge

(4/2/2025) This isn’t good for the Mid-South, and really anywhere from Texarkana to Cincinnati, and especially western TN, western KY, northeast AR, and the MO Bootheel.

Here are the outlooks for Monday through Wednesday. Tuesday could be a rough one in the Mississippi Delta, where the enhanced risk (level 3/5, in orange) is.

All probationary federal employees at NOAA’s EMC that’s responsible for keeping all US weather model systems running have been fired with 1 hours notice. And that includes me and colleagues. We will not go quietly because we care about the NOAA mission to protect the public.

NOAA is reportedly on the DOGE chopping block.

The National Weather Service, which is part of NOAA, provides life saving weather forecasting in the US.

A study found that for every $1 invested in NWS, it produces $73 in value to Americans.

Again, this isn't about efficiency.

500mb height anomalies over N America this AM (1/21/2025). Warm colors = way high, cold colors = way low. AK & the W Coast shouldn’t be so high; neither should Greenland & the N Atlantic. E N America—where people are—shouldn’t be so low.

There’s a lot more orange & brown than blue & purple on here.
