Less is more so often in critical care
In the EVERDAC trial involving patients with shock, results for death at day 28 indicated that management without early arterial catheter insertion was noninferior to early catheter insertion. Full trial results: nej.md/3LmOO0D

Our latest!! RSV is a serious respiratory infection that disproportionately affects older adults. RSV vaccination is approved for a 1 time dose. The duration of protection is unclear. We found that RSV vaccination protects against hospitalization for at least 2 years #medsky
jama.com JAMA @jama.com · Aug 30
In adults aged 60 years or older, RSV vaccines reduced RSV-associated hospitalizations over 2 seasons, although effectiveness waned among immunocompromised patients and those with cardiovascular disease.

Patients with diabetes, heart failure, kidney disease or COPD are at increased risk of severe RSV infection. We should encourage vaccination in these groups. #medsky

In a cluster-randomized, crossover trial, hospital-wide use of lactated Ringer’s solution as compared with normal saline did not alter the incidence of death or hospital readmission within 90 days. Full trial results: nej.md/45SaEBs
