Back due to popular demand (mainly from @brainchain.ca) is another readthrough of an 80s microwave cookbook

This time it's "Cook food in microwave oven", written by Jill Spencer and published by Allerbok in 1987.

Apart from the absolute lunacy that is the whole business idea. How do they plan on the logistics of scale for this thing? Because unless you put up a bunch of those giant mirrors you're only gonna be able to light up a single area at a time; no way that'll ever be able to pay off the initial cost.
For as long as Earth’s spun, the night has been dark. Ours.
Now a company wants to bounce sunlight off satellites and sell the sky like ad space.
That’s not progress, it’s vandalism.
The night sky belongs to everyone. Stay loud.

Both of these are great hashtags to click if you need a break from doomscrolling.

This speech about why England should make war on Spain (given in Charles I’s Privy Council April 1625) to gain colonies in the Caribbean is feeling relevant today.

It’s the one you’ve been waiting for- get ready for my #macroeconomics mega thread 🧵 on what Canada should do in the face of American #tariff and economic belligerence.

Well, today – of course! – is the 79th anniversary of L Ron Hubbard trying to summon Baby Satan. Apparently, it was this very day in 1946 when the founder of Scientology teamed up with a rocket engineer called Jack Parsons to create a ‘moonchild’

I checked my 1910 cookbook, and it does not have this recipe, so maybe not super old-fashioned. It had a slightly similar one where you roll the herring around anchocy, rather than bacon, and bake in the oven, but it didn't have cream so I don't think it counts.
Oh, yes. The old-fashioned baconfilled herring. Everyone of course knows of and loves the old-fashioned baconfilled herring.

“What appears to be a newly created account appeared to invest $30,000 Friday in Maduro's exit. After Maduro went into custody Saturday morning, that same investor netted $436,759.61.”
Someone made $400K by predicting Maduro's capture. Here's what happened
The winnings come as the rules governing prediction markets are still evolving.

I did it. I didn't have any aomonds, so ended up taking haselnuts instead. Also realised too late that full effect on my microwave is 100W higher than 80s microwaves, so all the honey just turned to a puddle in the bottom of the dish I cooked them in.

Verdict: not amazing, but also not bad. 3/5.

Hey, @brainchain.ca, I can see you've found it already, but I did another 80s microwave cookbook thread. Not as insane as the last one, but still has some fun ones (like when they tell you to just microwave a whole fish for about 13 minutes). ^.^
We are back with another installment of 80s microwave cookbooks, this one gifted to me by the amazing @spookulv.bsky.social.

This time it's Kokbok för Mikrovågsugn (Cookbook for Microvågsugn), published in 1987 by Ica Bokförlag. This is the fourth printing grom 1988, so must have been popular.

I know this is perfectly viable way to cook fish, but... in the microwave?

No, just no. Imagine the smell.

Oh, right. The next section is fish.

This is boiled whole fish. Just rub it in with lemon juice, add the greens, and then cook for 6min full and 6-8min low effect.

Please do this at work.

Anyway the whole thread is done now, if you saw it as I posted but decided to wait until it was done before reading it.
