I write beach reads for people who vacation in the shadow realm. If you make art I want to see it.

LIVE INTERNET THEORY

I was inspired to paint this frankenstein robot because I was thinking about how impersonal & bot-driven the internet of 2025 feels, and how the act of self-repair could make even a synthetic being seem human.

I posted to r/worldbuilding & a robot moderator removed it.

She reminds me of all my favorite professors in college, got the right mix of smart and scary... I needed to feel like I was playing russian roulette every time I raised my hand.
Credit where credit is due, the notion of a “bereft sense of self” comes from Toni Morrison, who used it to describe the white condition. (Speaking here to a man with a pronounced sense of entitlement.)

"Clanker" as an AI slur: 6/10. A little soft, but it's fun to pretend you're in a sci-fi movie set in 2030 but written in 1994.

But calling an AI-enjoyer a "vessel" is 10/10 hating, that's already informing my worldview.

The abysmal lab safety in Alien: Earth would normally be something I shrug off, but the #1 most fundamental drama in an Alien movie is containment & the failure to contain. That's what makes the chestburster so great. So if the story is nonchalant about this, things get boring quick.

The fact I once would have thought he was dead wrong about this entirely explains why I didn't like his movies from 2010-2020. Couldn't agree more now, and am fully back on the bandwagon.

I need to befriend someone who hosts legendary dinner parties that will let me hobnob with all the wits and sophisticates of our set. Never get to hobnob these days.

If I got turned into a werewolf I wouldn't even be doing any mayhem, I'd just be howling all night. Or maybe I'd be doing tiktoks into ranchers' trail cameras, reviewing various types of prey.

The Coen Bros. favorite kind of scene: two people who speak different languages need to make an exchange, and the fun/surprising ways those negotiations can play out. The language usually isn't literal, more like: one guy is performing a routine business transaction, the other is

Does that chain say "Man-Child"? Let me zoom in. God, that's funny. Let me find a higher-res image. Hold on, what is this?

I'm cool with living on a volcano, but I'm not above getting nervous when the comfy people get nervous. They invented this thing called the NASDAQ that can chart their panic by the millisecond, so they will get a very timely notification to stampede.

MJH is still a blue chipper for me, thankfully.

The hardest captcha for me is security questions that assume there's a chunk of my hippocampus devoted to tracking my preferences over time. I was already saying "green" through gritted teeth when I was a kindergartener and the adults told us to have a favorite color.

When I start to look at instagram for more than 15 minutes a day, I feel like a dog eating grass. I don't know why I'm doing it, I don't care for the taste, but there's some medicinal property I'm trying to get at.

LOST ended in 2010 and my dad's still not over his disappointment. As a diehard Leftovers fan, I'm always trying to exonerate Lindelof. So when he loved the Severence S2 finale and said he hoped it doesn't "end up like LOST," I looked up the longest gap between any 2 seasons of LOST: 9 months.

When I am looking for a .txt file on my hard drive, that is true squirrel anguish. What do you *mean*, I chose to save that file here? Why??

I wish we could abolish the term "intellectual property". People lose their minds once they start worrying about what they own.

I've never learned about music before, and after reading 20 pages of a music theory book, I can confidently say: insane error on my part. They're solving the same problems writers have to solve, I feel like I can apply 60% of what I'm reading to my fiction projects.
