My custom map generation algorithm for Master of Luna step-by-step:
1...5: player and neutral towns;
6...13: land and water;
14...16: monster lairs;
17...20: forests, mountains and swamps.

My first attempt at gamedev back from 2017. It took me about a year to build this in Unity. It was supposed to be Binding of Isaac inspired roguelike with magic and light base building. Turned out, I don't really have anything new to say in this genre, so I stopped the development.
