Pope Leo recently said his favorite movie of all time was “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Mine too. The pope’s and my favorite movie has a lot to tell us about where America is right now. Let me explain. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/trump-the-pope-and-me

Sharing here to celebrate Tina Turner. She would have been 86 today.
This has been a long time favorite of mine.

It’s heartwarming to know that she left this world happy and at peace…and what a voice! ✨

Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby…

Here’s how teachers can encourage their curiosity and growing understanding. 🌱

So let us sleep outside tonight
Lay down in our mother’s arms
For here we can rest safely

I saw a lot of activity around Haley (Limelight Hydrangea) and discovered that these are Goldenrod Soldier Beetles. If you see them…good news! They are beneficial to gardens and contribute to the world of pollination. ✨🌻🌸🌼✨

Ironweed is blooming! Having let a third of the grasses grow in the back yard has really helped with flooding. Last year the birds gifted us Chicory and this year…Black Eyed Susan and Indian Blanket or Firewheel. This flower and its colors are often used in Native American art. So vibrant!

Demanding preventive care coverage is NOT “woke” as the current administration thinks of it, like playing a side of the political spectrum. Preventive care allows for bodily autonomy and monitoring of our health issues. This will strip away that care for millions.
RFK Jr. says cancer screenings are too 'woke' now. As an actual doctor, I disagree. | Opinion
RFK Jr. is considering dismantling the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. This would be a disaster for public health.

“Hard Sun” (1989) was originally written and performed by Gordon Peterson (Indio).

The song was later covered (2007) by Eddie Vedder for the film “Into the Wild”.
