…Golden slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby…

One Sweet World…

So let us sleep outside tonight
Lay down in our mother’s arms
For here we can rest safely

I saw a lot of activity around Haley (Limelight Hydrangea) and discovered that these are Goldenrod Soldier Beetles. If you see them…good news! They are beneficial to gardens and contribute to the world of pollination. ✨🌻🌸🌼✨

Ironweed is blooming! Having let a third of the grasses grow in the back yard has really helped with flooding. Last year the birds gifted us Chicory and this year…Black Eyed Susan and Indian Blanket or Firewheel. This flower and its colors are often used in Native American art. So vibrant!

“Hard Sun” (1989) was originally written and performed by Gordon Peterson (Indio).

The song was later covered (2007) by Eddie Vedder for the film “Into the Wild”.

Musical staff drawn by me (2018).

Oh, did it take long
To find me
I ask the faithful light

Oh, did it take long
To find me
And are you gonna stay the night

“Crazy,
but that's how it goes
Millions of people
living as foes
Maybe
it's not too late
To learn how to love and
forget how to hate…”

For the past 4 weeks we have been watching a Killdeer nest in our driveway. We put an obstruction and reflector up to deter any accident. Today the Killdeer Chicks hatched adorned in their plumage. They will be flying in roughly one month. ✨

The white and golden clovers embrace the field. Spiderwort and Coreopsis, with its gentle sway, bloom their bold hue. And the Hawthorn Tree stands with love and protection. All living with the rains.

Peonies
by Mary Oliver

This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready
to break my heart
as the sun rises,
as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers…

The opening stanza.

Children, It’s Spring

And this is the lady
Whom everyone loves,
Ms. Violet
in her purple gown

Or, on special occasions,
A dress the color
Of sunlight. She sits
In the mossy weeds and waits
