the more I think about this prospect the more utterly horrific seems to me

if nobody has their own computer, if nobody manages their own files, then state and corporate control over what you can do with a digitized machine is absolute, and privacy is beyond dead
increasingly starting to think that the endgame is to kill consumer computing so end users are driven to use centrally-operated cloud computing farms that these companies have total control over, so AI becomes inescapable

right now AI is irritating but possible to avoid, and we can't have that
