I monitored the large sunspot AR4079 this morning for 3.5 hours in h-alpha. Caught some minor flares and small filament eruptions. The small prominence in the lower right put on a short but good show. I was hoping for more excitement but a watched sunspot never explodes! #astrophotography

At last! The Thor's Helmet image is in the bag -- not perfect, could always use more data and tweaks, but after working on nothing else since mid-January...I think it's done! Supernova remnant in hydrogen and oxygen, RGB stars. 8" RC telescope.

I'm just an infant when it comes to this hobby... But I can only imagine the frustration of astronomers and scientist with all the satellites orbiting Earth. Nothing like satellite trails to kill an imaging exposure 😂🤦🏾♂️

The Dragon's Egg is a southern hemisphere nebula flying about 3900 light-years away -- right next door. The star in the middle is causing all the ruckus, ionizing hydrogen (red stuff) and oxygen (blue stuff). I processed this using data from a CDK20 scope in Chile. #astrophotography
