In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.
KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.
His reply was a doozy.

Hey, you know the sequel to Rockstar's Bully (aka Canis Canim Edit, in some markets)? Well, it ain't happening, so somebody decided to make their own: youtu.be/g-rC6S6FLT0
I'm a bit on the fence; the graphics look frankly ugly, but that's part of the nostalgic charm. #gaming

Have played. Is good. Have to get to the updated version; unfortunately, I heard they nixed the endless and outrageous product placement, which was half the fun of the original. (And part of the authentic 2010s Akihabara experience.)
This #RandomGameSaturday an unconventional vampire game. Vampires who camouflage among the cultures of Akihabara. But how do you defeat vampires? Garlic, silver, holy water? No, these vampires are weak in sunlight, so you have to fight them to take their clothes (which you can steal and wear).

Scotland is a pretty small country and a lot of our hyper regional-specific stuff has little internet presence. But in terms of more general Scottish things that might be of interest to folk outside the country, here's an Irn Bru Christmas ad parodying The Snowman, itself a British institution.

My latest adventure is #Splintered, a #jrpg harkening to the Dragon Quest days, and which may or may not be a roguelike. It hit release just two weeks ago and has an interesting hook, so let's crack it open and see what's what! #indiegames store.steampowered.com/app/3127000/...

One of these days I want to do a deep dive on how DeviantArt came to a perfect spawn point for this kind of thing. It's not just that "Sonic fans are weird", it's that a lot of (younger) people formed a community around drawing cartoon characters doing cartoon things during hormonal teenagerdom.

A smart businessman would take that info and realize that investors will give them money if they claim to use AI, then they can just code it normally and lie about it. Sounds like a plan. Or a plot. Perhaps even a Caper. 😉
They either devalue AI by saying they don't use it in their code, or they devalue AI by saying they use it in their shit code
I think the received wisdom is that investors will give them more money if they can claim to use AI, even if the product is rubbish

They probably shouldn’t have said publicly that they were using ai to program windows 11. I probably wouldn’t have said that part

I'm fixating on the phrase "Teen Vogue political desk".
...and less than 24 hours later Condé Nast has fired Lex and the rest of the Teen Vogue political desk, even as stories like this were bringing huge numbers of readers to the site
dissatisfied by the New York Times coverage of Zohran Mamdani?
great news! I talked to the guy Thursday about his campaign’s success at bringing community together beyond this election, and contextualized how it’s potentially shifted youth engagement with politics by simply listening @teenvogue.com

Dropped Ni No Kuni, I was forcing myself to play it and wasn’t having a good time at all. I think it’s close to time to go back to the SaGa well, but first I’ma take a quick detour with a game I could replay a million times.
