The cost of compliance with ESG reporting requirements is an unhelpful distraction from the more urgent task of delivering actual CO2 emissions reductions.

Reporting needs to become smarter, more relevant and less redundant.

Hays acquires another agency chain
Hays Travel has acquired Millington Travel, a 14-branch chain with shops across the Midlands. Millington Travel, which has its head office in Leicester, is the fourth business to join Hays’ retail portfolio this year. Hays acquired 12-branch and homework network Spears Travel in June, Cruise.co.uk owner Victoria Travel Group in July, and 15-branch Polka Dot Travel last week. Millington Travel has been trading since 1972 and was bought by Nick Bland and Nigel Armitage in 2005. They will now leave the business, but Hays has assured staff working across the 14 branches that their jobs are safe. Nick said: "Stepping away from a business we've poured our hearts into for nearly 20 years is emotional, but we’re confident this is the right move. “Our incredible team has been the backbone of Millington Travel’s success, and we’re proud to see them transition into the capable hands of Hays Travel. We’re deeply grateful to our loyal customers and colleagues who’ve made this journey so rewarding." Nigel said: “We have great respect for them [the Hays leadership team] and their business and know that our people are in good hands.” Hays Chair Dame Irene Hays said: “I congratulate Nick and Nigel on their work to further establish Millington Travel as an exemplary business. “With its reputation for family values, excellent service, and loyal customers Millington Travel is a natural fit for us. We look forward to welcoming their talented people to our Hays Travel family. “I wish Nigel and Nick every success with what comes next and give them my assurance that we will take great care of their brilliant people and business as we build on their legacy.” Pictured, from left: Nick Bland, Hays Retail Director Jane Schumm and Nigel Armitage
