Ashleigh Writes Books

Ashleigh is a reclusive Pacific Northwest author with the charm of a chloroform-laced handkerchief and the bite of a poisoned quill. I don’t tell the whole story—I write tales where love gets messy and murder never wipes its feet. ashleighwritesbooks.com

Looking over old articles and books from the Forgotten Realms setting in D&D and realizing just how long I've been reading works by @erikscottdebie.bsky.social ... (it's one of my favorite settings, BTW.)

Wow, I’ve never heard it articulated before as the freedom to read. That’s what I want! When I disagree with a position but want to know more, I go to a library. When I want to understand something I go to a library.

I want the freedom to read!

Tell me, #booksky - this isn't a sign that I have a book problem, is it? That isn't a ral thing, is it? Someone told me I have "too many books". I think they are the one with a problem. A literacy problem. Should I send them a reading 🌈?

Had lunch Monday with my Navy brother who lives across the Sound in Bremerton. Got some feedback on an important scene from "Unseen" that's been giving me grief, from the grandaughter of someone who didn't make it out of the camps. The persepctive helped.

To anyone who was following my main account @ashmcsidhe - I had to delete it because I lost access to the email account for it and created a new account with the same username. But lost all followers. Just FYI.

Back in revision this week: two stories from a year or so ago which were initially written as backstory for two of the main characters in the murder book. One is how they met. The other is why one was such a Grade AAA bitch at the time. Two broken people who find love and help each other heal.

Beloved Soouse and I spent a few wonderful days away from home visiting with friends in the Portland area, for whom we performed their Handfasting some 35 years ago. It's wonderful when the magic holds that long. I got to share some drafts of my writing with them, which was a bonus for me. 1/4

While this post has generated some likes, it has yet to generate an actual response. As I have never undergone said ceremony myself, my family having been separated from its Jewish ancestry some generations back, still wanting appropriate eyes to see it.
Seeking a sensitivity/beta reader for a short story scene featuring a Bat Mitzvah. It weaves Jewish traditions and survivor experiences; I want to ensure authenticity & respect. If you have cultural insight or sensitivity reading experience, I'd love your input! DMs open.

I'll be out of towm for a few days and likely not posting much until after the first. (So watch, I'll probably be doing a marathon posting while on the trip, like the last time I went anywhere! 😅)

See my surprised face? Yeah, me neither. Anyone who knows anyone who has actually received gender affirming care knows this.
