It worked! Had a very-rare-but-very-fixable thing go wrong the first night so went back into the surgery room the next morning, all going well since then.

My eyesight is already better than it was with glasses before surgery and it's still improving! This is amazing.
In 20 minutes, I'll have lasers shot at my eyeballs and for the first time since I was 4, 37 years ago, I won't need glasses anymore!

Modern technology means 5 years from now, my night vision won't deteriorate to a point where I can't drive safely anymore. That's pretty great!

As I almost slipped on the wet Lambton Quay footpath tiles this morning, couldn't help but wish WCC (and LGWM) hadn't missed so many opportunities to get Golden Mile construction started before the bad faith actors' delay tactics won.

Looking forward to no change whatsoever 😭😭

It's a new year, but I'm still forgetting to check the Wellington weather before leaving Waikanae on the train. Yet another day wrongly assuming that if it's not raining at home, it won't be in the city either. Woops.

Weird that this article includes Ian Foster and Steve Hansen as possibilities to be the next All Blacks coach, yet completely ignores another former All Blacks coach who's recently won a World Cup and fits the eligibility criteria - John Mitchell

A “recently retired” All Black will be part of the five-man panel to select Scott Robertson’s replacement, and only coaches with international experience need apply.

I dropped out of high school age 15 and my highest qualification is still School Certificate (NCEA level 1 equivalent).

In 5 months though, I'll have a Masters degree and in the meantime I've worked big jobs leading dozens of people on some of the Government's biggest challenges.
Poor results NCEA don't destroy your future. I was bullied relentlessly in school and it affected my academic performance, I didn't have NCEA level 2 when I left, but today I'm the author of a national best seller and I'm doing a post graduate degree

What an awesome afternoon at the Waikanae Garden Trail, one of my favourite fundraisers of the year. Thanks to the Waikanae (and Peka Peka + Paraparaumu) folks who opened up their gardens for us to wander around and enjoy.

Just watched One Battle After Another and tbh I really don't see what the fuss was about. Maybe it's better on the big screen than on a plane, but even still, felt like a distinctly meh film. Not terrible but not particularly good.

Sure, Singapore Airport might have the world's tallest indoor waterfall, but does it have a McDonald's with a conveyor belt carrying food downstairs from the kitchen? I think not!

There are definitely worse places to be, despite the unbearable heat.

Really looking forward to being home tomorrow night tho

I famously find summers in Wellington at least 4-5 degrees too hot to manage comfortably, so let me tell you, after spending the last two weeks in Sydney I am not sure that I exist as anything more than a gloopy puddle anymore.

"a lot of people are posting about the bus kidnapping story, surely it can't be that bonkers"

my friends this is an actual odyssey
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place

This is an incredible story and you should absolutely read it
rare thing to read an obituary with a smile on your face, doubly rare for the smile to be because the person was so fuckin cool and not because [signal drops]
Holy hell, what an obituary

Back at the SCG - tonight's conundrum is Steve Smith vs David Warner: whichever team I cheer for, a cheat wins.
The SCG really knows how to put on a show! Watching the Sydney Sixers vs Hobart Hurricanes, not sure who I should support but my gut feeling is the team without Steve Smith.
