Be realistic, demonizing chasing trends can be self destructive for growth. The current financial climate across the world is terrible, if you have to draw Sonic Yaoi to keep a roof over your head there is no shame in that.
Do not draw yourself into poverty. The OCs can always come later.

Sounds really basic but solely making art with the expectation of popularity + success will poison the well of your artistic spirit, and you won’t really develop an artistic voice if you’re just trying appease your audience at all times, save for a voice that actually isn’t yours

God I really hate how JK Rowling and Trump expressing "support" for protests in Iran muddied waters so much.
Because current government in Iran is Genuinely horrible and has killed 2000 people in the span of a day as well as the country facing a blackout. But it's just not that trendy I guess.
