Stage 4 endo & stroke survivor
Pinned
Thanks for reading my promotional posts for the last year. Onto the next.
Endometriosis surgery number 3 is scheduled to remove the endo from and make repairs to my abdominal muscle. I am one step closer to being able to do heavy lifting again without feeling like I am being stabbed, and generally being afraid to use my core for anything, lest I receive a jolt of pain.

Well articulated.

I just want to feel the emotional release that white millennial men felt in high school while listening to "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder.

While absurd when put so plainly, that's still many such cases of men fully believing this.

And now for a more serious post

HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO ME HAVING A STROKE AND NOT DYING.

Allowing myself whatever time I want to hopescroll on my phone today, as a treat.

Maxime Beauchemin open-sourced Agor today. It is a "Figma for AI coding", a spacial canvas where you can manage AI agents visually.

He thought of all the things, too (MCP, scheduler, mobile prompting, etc).

Super sick.

It is really hard to post my silly little thoughts on social media and also ignore the multitude of flaming dumpster fires.

Lots of experts in my domain (computer programming) completely fell for it—the fallacious logic goes something like “it works for some of what I’m doing, and my field is the hardest of all human endeavors, therefore it must work 100% in all those lesser fields”

People that are still completely locked in on their product and 60+ hr/week job, blathering on about this or that tech for multiple posts per day, are a reason why the lack of empathy in tech has gotten us where we are today - filled with a glut of products pushed on people that no one asked for.

The best marketing doesn't mean the best product.

I have written about this more at length before when it comes to finding or learning data tooling.

The same thing is true now with marketing around "agentic AI". Finding the holy grail that lives up to its promises is no easy task.

No one should be surprised by this.

Seeing printed, obvious AI art for sale at a place like Home Goods give me an ick that I cannot quite describe.

The final episode of season 16 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia should be required viewing for any tech bro or sis that wants to found a VC-backed startup for their little product idea.

How it feels.

I am glad that Mehul Shah used his privilege to call this out when others cannot be as bold.

"There are some who believe never to hire laid-off employees."

I can guarantee that this is true. I feel tarnished, as though I disgust others with my impefect job history because of layoff.

Trying to be normal as I complete a millennial white woman in the fall activity.

It is interesting to me that I am expected to try to be a thought leader in order to get a job, when I have met plenty of hiring managers that barely have a social presence.

You gather the data. You rearrange it and do some math. You tell people what it means.

This is it. And we overcomplicate the hell out of it.

(Security reqs are like 80% of the complexity to be fair though.)

The new term people keep throwing out a bunch without really knowing what it means is MCP.

Your tool's AI is MCP-enabled?
Yes? Excellent. Glad we both have an understanding of what this means.

Being able to voice your viewpoint and opinions in the tech world without it being used against you is a privilege.

You will lose out on opportunities that you absolutely need because of people in positions of power.

That is a reality that nobody wants to talk about.
