Lots of experts in my domain (computer programming) completely fell for it—the fallacious logic goes something like “it works for some of what I’m doing, and my field is the hardest of all human endeavors, therefore it must work 100% in all those lesser fields”

At some point, if you see that the world around you is falling apart, people are hungry, justice is dissolving, and jobs are disappearing (without it impacting you in any way)
