Painting in watercolor species we lost through extinction in past 25 years. No AI or filters. Currently, sales and commissions closed. No DM’s please. 🎨🖼️🌿
A Christmas Island blue-tailed skink. That tail! Extinct in wild 2010. Yellow crazy ants and Giant African land snails invaded. Two non-native snakes ate lizards. The red crab decreased. Leaf litter built up.The ecosystem collapsed. Scientists will try to kill off wolf snakes and reintroduce skinks.

A project of old lost creatures. Extinct in the wild in past 25 years. There will be many. We lost much. Who were they, what happened, where do we go from here? I’ll be painting weekly. I hope you enjoy the art, it’s old school originals, and learn a few things. Free for use by students under 18.

I fell behind here due to flying over Kauai and fun things like that. 🌺I am afraid of flying but it was worth it. Yes, I feel guilty for being a tourist. But I also enjoyed the break. Beautiful island! 🐠🐡🐟

Oh boy, exciting! A pinecone fish.🤗
The #AlphabetChallenge #WeekGForGold selection for today is a zoomed in look at a pinecone fish glistening like gold nuggets

Not a fish, but a sea creature. Am I the only one who finds the inside of an oyster quite beautiful? #watercolor #oysterart #sciart #marinelife #artisindebsnature #natureart #originalart

I just love schooling fish. This artist has the depth, light, identical fish forms. Very nice! 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟

I love the movement and light in this artist’s jellies!
Watercolor and colored pencil #jellyfish for today’s #FishyFeb!

Jellyfish have existed about 500 million years. This painting is not quite that old but #Fishyfeb called for jellyfish. #watercolour #artfun #watercolor

Stressed? Look at the fish. Breathe in, breathe out. This is the Atlantic tarpon. Here for #BlueSkyArtShow. Art shows require nothing from us but gazing. The prompt is #reflection. A fish looks shiny because light reflects off its scales.

There are lovely Oscar fish showing up for #FishyFeb. Artists who can not only paint well but also tag correctly. This Oscar is beautiful! 😍
Big ol' Oscar for #FishyFeb prompt today that I spent today making on my day off.
Reused my lil whispy planty bits from my Arowana piece. Super happy with this one 🥰

Out of sync with #fishyfriday but at least it’s Friday. An Oscar, in profile. His good side. Good things going on here for me are the indigo paint combined with the oranges. He wears it well.🧡. #fishyfriday2025 #fishart #artisindebsnature #originalart

Here I am being fishy and just found there’s a fish art challenge. I may not have time but maybe you do. Make art not chaos, it’s a beautiful concept.🐠🎏🐡
In February I’ll be following this prompt list I made for #FishyFeb So I can continue to share my fish art every day! Everyone is welcome to join - I tried to make the prompts as open as possible. All art and photography can be entered (no AI). Have fun! ❤️

It’s a whale shark for #blueskyartshow day, every Saturday. This week’s theme is light. Two things: Contrast of dark and light. Or the light that reflects from white paper through pigment. These are the largest fish. Gentle giants. #addOcean #artshare #originalart #artisindebsnature #fishart

Trying this repost thing. I think a bit of art humor is called for this week. 🎨🖌️

A fantastically ancient fish, the sturgeon. Some species extinct, some threatened. I loved painting this fish. He spoke to me, he said, “What ya doing lady?.” Painting you, not catching you. Cool. 🐟

Joining #blueskyartshow today, Saturday, sharing the spotted pattern on massive fins of the lion fish. Highly invasive in many places and spreading. It’s also a beauty. My original art.

A photo from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, a place I’m not sure I’d attend now. It’s a world class facility with abundant pluses but I’m not at ease with live displays in a world of scarce resources and troubled environments. 🌊
