A slight bit of tonal whiplash for this account, but still relevant enough to put it here! Made a FA journal detailing my current career stuff, and a bit of an outreach for help to those who might be able to point me in the right direction.

I deleted TikTok back when the Oracle purchase was announced but if you've still got it, you GOTTA dump it. Especially for trans folks. It straight up says in the new TOS that they--Oracle, the company that has active ties to the Trump admin--are monitoring and documenting trans and NB users.

There is something all of us can do to rein in ICE's reign of terror. The Department of Homeland Security is currently funded only through January 30, and the new funding bill is vulnerable.

Molly White explains it well, this is doesn’t give the AI companies anything they didn’t already have for free, but it *does* mean that they have restrictions on how they can collect and use that data.

News sites want to spin it as Wikipedia embracing AI, but it’s not
Sure. AI companies have ALWAYS been training their models on Wikipedia content, which under the free and open access model is available to anyone — including AI companies. Agreements like these require AI companies to limit and offset the strain they place on Wikimedia infrastructure.

I will say, it's good that there are pushbacks and backlash over these age verification and online ID checks bills/laws. Keep calling your reps to stop bills like KOSA and SCREEN, and protect Section 230. Also, check your local laws too. We will win. #StopKOSA #SaveSpeech

This is a really vulnerable time for paypro call centers. It's already been reported that Mastercard is stressed by our persistence

I know we're all busy around this time too but let's fire the engines 🔥
#SaveSpeech

starting Nov 1st we're entering the holiday season, which is a big stress point for big businesses like Mastercard and Visa. These Paypros havent stopped cracking down on Adult Content, so we need to jump back into calling them in full force again!

Wikipedia is worth $10/month because if it dies so does reliable knowledge. Cough up if you can -- it's cheaper, more interesting and morally superior to Netflix.
wikipedia's data shows that AI is siphoning traffic away from the site, which is a danger to its sustainability. ironically Wikipedia is more important than ever to users who want reliable information instead of slop, and to AI companies that need it for training data www.404media.co/wikipedia-sa...

Donald Trump basically announces that he is declaring war on anyone he deems a Democrat... and one of the leading Democratic Senators, @blumenthal.senate.gov thinks now is the best time for a bipartisan censorship bill that will let MAGA define what content is allowed on the internet.

WTF?
Are you kidding me right now? This is the last thing we need. KOSA is back no thanks to Senator Blumenthal who is working with the GOP and bringing in Republican Senators to convince the House to support it.

Please, CALL GOP House leadership and tell them to keep opposing it!

YOUR VOICE MATTERS
I actually emailed my MPs few weeks back, and they responded with not wanting to support this, and I'm so happy because it felt like for once in my life, I was heard.
Hell yeah! We got another state joining the opposition

Still Germany is still undecided, but the opposition is growing as well in there

If you are from EU (expecially from Germany) consider calling your rappresentatives

hate to be the bearer of bad news to the pretentious but pornography is not a lower form of art just because you feel weird after you jerk off sometimes.

this isn't about "the noose tightening," this isn't just suppression of expression and art, this is un-elected, international suppression of art.

We need to keep calling Paypal to complain about this. They should not have any policies that deny anyone to buy anything from anyone or anywhere just because they think 'it's icky'
There is something even scarier about all this than people realize. Everyone is rightfully pissed about payment companies not allowing consumers to buy legal nsfw things, but what if they decide to take it further? What if they don’t want you buying certain foods or from specific stores?
PayPal user in the UK lost their account after buying adult ebooks “about monsters and milking,” “some dubcon stuff”

“My account got banned a couple of days ago for making purchases which violate the ToS. Upon querying w/ staff over the phone I've been told that it was ebooks that I've been buying”
