Naar de Hoge Veluwe geweest met als doeleen bosbeskielwants (Elasmucha ferrugata) vinden. Deze zeldzame soort wordt alleen op de Veluwe en op een paar plekjes in Drenthe en Overijssel gevonden. Na enkele veldjes met bosbessen afgezocht te hebben was het raak: een parend stelletje.

Kleine borstelige graafwants (Byrsinus flavicornis), Berkheide, Wassenaar, 29 maart 2025. Erg klein, zit niet stil, en indien toch, dan ingegraven.

Gisteren tijdens het fotograferen van bodemwantsen in Berkheide, Katwijk kwam er regelmatig een Lange steltwants (Neides tipularius) langs gewandeld. Deze stak een open plekje over, dus eindelijk eentje die een beetje vrij zat, ipv tussen de sprietjes.

Saldula saltatoria, Frieze Wei, Berkheide, Katwijk, 24 maart 2025. Enkele 10-tallen van deze kleine oeverwantsen in natte plekken en langs kanten van bijna opgedroogde plasjes.

Zandstoppelwants (Pionosomus varius), Coepelduynen, Katwijk, 23 maart 2025. Er zaten er 10-tallen (wellicht 100-en) op een zonning zuidhellinkje.

Right: Cardiastethus fasciiventris, my first bug of the year (and one I saw never before). I think it was 1,5 mm and it sat under a piece of bark with Anelosimus vittatus (left).

Still elated by the “Brileider bonanza” we set our sights on other Dutch delights. Next up, was the Pygmy Cormorant at Natuurpark Lelystad on Flevoland. She turned out to be an obliging little stunner too and put in another stellar performance!

A brilliant couple of days of Dutch birding done ‘n’ dusted with @philsbirding.bsky.social Yesterday we got the main target the Specky Eider on Texel plus a Goose fest and today around Amsterdam region Black & Middle spotted peckers, Pygmy Cormorant, Firecrests, White Storks etc - Quality🙂

A brilliant couple of days of Dutch birding done ‘n’ dusted with @philsbirding.bsky.social Yesterday we got the main target the Specky Eider on Texel plus a Goose fest and today around Amsterdam region Black & Middle spotted peckers, Pygmy Cormorant, Firecrests, White Storks etc - Quality🙂
