US deports hundreds of Venezuelans "despite" court order.

Meaning, of course: "in breach of".

On the face of it, it looks like there is now a full constitutional crisis in United States, in that the executive is now freely ignoring court orders.

Crisis point reached.

Their arrival comes less than 24 hours after a federal judge blocked a law Trump planned to use for the deportations.

🚨🚨Fucking nightmare shitshow of #Trump press brief where he seemingly I) stakes claim that he has a right to invade Greenland II) make Canada forcibly to a US state & III) surrender Ukraine to Kremlin (blaming everyone else than Putin). NB; this is real & pitless disaster for the Global world order.

Again, if the Mad King can just disappear legal residents on personal whim, he can do it for any citizen of the Republic. And if he can do that, without consequence, then I have no idea why you still believe the 2026/28 elections are going to be free, fair, & competitive.
I really, really want to be wrong about this. But it's textbook stuff, on a daily basis, right now, & we were starting, in 2025, from a baseline that isn't fully democratic anyway. If the last weeks are what the next several years have in store, then 2026/28 simply will not competitive elections.
Again, elections happen under competitive authoritarianism. What doesn’t happen is legal accountability for criminals allied with the government, or elections that are fully free & fair. We already don’t have those. If the claim is we’re still going to be a full democracy in 2026/8, I have bad news.

Columbia grad student with a green card and a pregnant US citizen wife, abducted by ICE because of his political organizing, and now his lawyers can't find him.

Hey, @schumer.senate.gov. This is your constituent. Bring him back home.
UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

Trump, the self-styled 'master negotiator', has removed any leverage for Putin to come to the table. The only possible conclusions are either/some combination of a) he's actually a terrible negotiator b) he's indifferent to what happens to Ukraine c) he wants Russia to win.

What’s clear at this point is that the Trump strategy on Ukraine is to only place pressure on Zelensky, not Putin. The moves we’ve seen have been to give Russia everything it wants, and Ukraine nothing. It’s a complete reversal of the American position from only 6 weeks ago.

We must also step up our support to Ukraine #EUCO
