I really wish I could say that this surprises me but oil and gas are king down here, which means that they can get away with pretty much anything they want. I don’t know if they own the state Supreme Court, but they definitely own the legislature and the governors mansion.
NEW: Salt water laced with cancer-causing chemicals, a byproduct of oil and gas drilling, keeps shooting out of the ground in Oklahoma.

Experts say it means even more wastewater is spreading underground, poisoning the state’s water supply.

The fundamental error here is the presumption that enough of us will ever make that decision. The reality, which has been recognized since Ben Franklin made his famous comment, is that people will readily surrender liberty in return for the illusion of stability.
We are now learning how much oppression and abuse Americans will tolerate. The day will come when enough Americans will decide enough is enough and this lawless regime must be stopped. But right now too many are willing to let the lawless abuse continue.

My usual typing speed is about 65 to 70 words per minute. These bad boys bring that figure down to about 20 words per minute, so I was positively tickled to learn that Office 365 has a dictation function.

Yeah, yeah. Nowadays, it’s the little things that stave off insanity and burnout.

Every one of my Midwestern ancestors is spinning in their graves.

I just got my husband a wi-fi and Bluetooth enabled meat thermometer, so he can check on meats he is cooking from anywhere in the house.

I didn’t even buy it on sale.

I have spent this week going from being someone who works from home and people occasionally through online meetings and the phone to being someone who is in the office and peoples intensively all of the time.

I am exhausted.

It is a testament to the skill of everyone involved that knowing what was coming did not in any way blunt the impact of that episode. #TheLastOfUs

This is an excellent point
I am convinced a major factor in the tariff disaster is that Trump has so consistently been met with cowardice and capitulation from every quarter in American politics that he imagined other countries would just as easily fold to bullying.

The cuts won’t be limited to the federal government. State governments, particularly in red states, rely heavily on federal grants. As those are slashed, expect to see state programs being cut and state employees joining their federal brethren in the unemployment line.

Senator Schumer, take note.

THIS is what leadership looks like.

Meet Gracie Himes, age 20.

Her goal: Fight cancer by developing new medicines.

On March 3, her dreams were shattered when Trump admin cuts hit West Virginia University, which rescinded her PhD program offer.

It took seeing adult bullies to understand that my childhood bullies didn’t even really want to hurt me, they just wanted to feel powerful and how I felt about it wasn’t even in the equation.

I can’t imagine someone not outgrowing that, but apparently it happens quite a lot!

I have never been as embarrassed by Trump as I was today. And, dear gods and little green fishes, do not get me started on Vance.
Trump’s disgusting behavior in our Oval Office in the company of a genuine hero and defender of democracy like Volodymyr Zelensky may be the most disgraceful public behavior by any president in our history.

The Sugarcubes - Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week!

It is very, very nice to have this back in my collection. As good as Bjork’s later work is, I still like this album best.

Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash

This is a good one for when I am pissed at the world.

Sadly, they are one of the few bands I’ve seen live where the experience was just not good, though that was more the crowd’s fault than the band’s.
