Forgive the random brain droppings
My usual typing speed is about 65 to 70 words per minute. These bad boys bring that figure down to about 20 words per minute, so I was positively tickled to learn that Office 365 has a dictation function.

Yeah, yeah. Nowadays, it’s the little things that stave off insanity and burnout.

Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash

This is a good one for when I am pissed at the world.

Sadly, they are one of the few bands I’ve seen live where the experience was just not good, though that was more the crowd’s fault than the band’s.

Of late, I’ve been doing a lot of nostalgia additions to my vinyl collection. I first bought this on cassette from an indie record store in Milwaukee when I was around 16 years old. Perfect distillation of early Cure.

I’ve been meaning to get this one for AGES, so when I went shopping for comfort music yesterday, it just leaped out at me. For my money, this is the best dance album in existence. I challenge you to listen to it and stay still.

Gary Clark Jr - Live

The best musicians always seem to sound even better live. I can hear every hurt and heartbreak in his life, and his complete refusal to lay down and die in its face, suffusing every note he plays. And that is exactly what blues should sound like.

Concrete Blonde - Free

I know everyone loves Bloodletting (for good reason), but this is my favorite Concrete Blonde album (Mexican Moon is a close second), and one of my favorite albums of all time. It is, IMO, the purest distillation of their early sound.

Gary Numan - I, Assassin

I had Gary Numan classed in my head as “that guy who wrote ‘Cars,’” and then I saw him live (an experience I HIGHLY recommend). Since then I’ve been exploring, and loving his catalog. This album is delicious.

When I was in high school, I used to love playing this album for other people, because they always made me prove that it was actually a Ministry album. It still delight in the juxtaposition of sprightly synth music with rage-filled lyrics.
