Honestly? Growing up in rural Nebraska in the 90s was kind of like this. These guys have some extra years deep study—disturbing they all have the context to be amused by 1488—but the epithets? The hatred? Middle-schoolers talked like that there.

This seems true, but it has pretty dark implications, because the consistent historical trend is for radicals of this sort, when stymied, to ramp up the violence in an effort to break through.

What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.

After all the grossly inhumane abuses we’ve seen ICE perpetrate, they‘re still finding new ones. Imagine what kind of monster you would have to be to intercept this person on the threshold of their long awaited freedom just to throw them in another cage.
