The world order is in rupture, not transition. Australia can no longer assume the US alliance will hold – or serve our interests – and must begin preparing a serious Plan B, John Menadue writes.

The United States is a lawless and dangerous ally. What is Australia's Plan B?
Mark Carney’s Davos speech highlights a world in rupture, not transition. Australia needs to rethink its dependence on the United States and begin preparing a credible Plan B.

I have written another piece on Bondi.

It covers the Liberal Party and National Party responses (former Coalition), Labor's response, as well as explaining some of the new laws.

QLD Nationals back-bencher MP Colin Boyce will challenge David Littleproud for the leadership of the Nats.

Boyce stated that this is due to the decision by Littleproud to blow up the Coalition, calling it 'political s**cide.'

I am not a support of their ilk, however, he is not wrong.

Australia must adjust its international engagement. That must include a divestment from the United States to avoid further danger, toward a more regional focus. We have the capability to do so, and the region would certainly welcome the change.

The pragmatic and like-minded Canadian PM, Mark Carney, will be addressing the Australia parliament in March.

Carney: ‘Middle powers must act together, because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.’

An accurate reflection of the times.

1/3 - Australian Right Wing Chaos

Is this Coalition split, combined with ONP polling, a death knell for the moderate Libs?

With the Nats openly lurching to further right, toward ONP, to defend against vote shed in the regions to ONP, the Coaiton has split. Again.

Here is a short published letter I wrote regarding Australia's (unenviable) position being stuck between China and the USA. Have a read!

I will be re-visiting this and fleshing it out in the future.

I am working on a piece on MSM and the Murdochracy in Australia, and how, despite them constantly working on overdrive for one side of politics, Labor still manages to get into government and command the polls.

It will take some time, but for now, enjoy the following toon:

Aside from the obvious concerns re: sovereignty. This whole Greenland fiasco is making the world a more dangerous and difficult place for relations between nations, due to this type of rhetoric being now required.

We don't need more division in a time of already existing conflict.
Greenland PM Jens-Frederik Nielsen:

"If we have to choose between the US & Denmark here and now, we choose Denmark. We choose NATO. We choose the Kingdom of Denmark. We choose the EU."

"Greenland does not want to be owned by the US. Greenland does not want to be governed by the US" he later added.

Trump’s Venezuelan oil snatch is not going well.

Issues with modernisation costs, security, instability, and low oil prices Trump has urged investments, but executives seek major reforms first.

A lot of work to be done before oil barons move in.
