Just a guy. Labor. White collar professional.

I write things about Australian politics, economics, global affairs, and international relations sometimes: sancarville.substack.com
Yeah that’s rough. I’m sorry about that. Something similar on my end.

Agree. Many of their policies have very clear negative implications/externalities on the way things work and that can be rationally explained.
If they don’t get it after that, then just drop it, because it’s not a political pundits job to de-radicalise people; which would be the case at that point.

You should learn them, so that you can provide an adequate and reasonable retort to their supporters. Else you risk them doubling down.

People who are generally economically disaffected and taking out those grievances on easy targets, because they don’t know any better and are otherwise unable to better their own economic circumstances.

Per Taytay, I think we’ve seen this one before, and I didn’t like the ending.

Whichever way it goes, I hope it results in the least harm to the American people, whilst still able to preserve the rule of law and democratic values. I said it above, but again, I am sorry that this is happening to the American people. I feel like I’m watching Iran right now.

Very sad and also very hard to watch. Even from afar. I hope things get better soon for the American people. 😞

The stuff coming out of Minnesota is just terrifying. Yesterday’s event was nothing but a cold blooded execution of an ICU nurse American citizen by federal agents. Then alleged evidence tampering.

Similar to potential start of a civil war, per war games analyst: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
We ran high-level US civil war simulations. Minnesota is exactly how they start | Claire Finkelstein
Developments in Minnesota closely mirror a scenario explored in a 2024 exercise conducted at the Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law at the University of Pennsylvania, which I direct

Mark Carney will be speaking to the Australian parliament in March. That invitation being extended, at this time, is a sign that things are heading in the right direction. Labor approaches things with pragmatism and caution, which means things take a bit more time. Hopefully we go that way.

This CV fits the times. With middle powers being on the menu, a pragmatic and diplomatic Moriarty will be able to secure our ongoing seat at the table.

Oh, I haven't caught that one. I'll give it a whirl later today. Big fan of independent journalism in Aus. Needs more support. Particularly given the Murdochracy.

Valid. Just wanted to catch Albo. Lol. Usually not a watcher of that ... stuff.

Great move and clean slate to take a different approach to the ‘special’ relationship.
January 24, 2026 at 10:33 PM
I agree. An excellent choice. A blank slate re no social media presence nor public representative life (comments). Life long pragmatic public servant. Can start a completely fresh and pragmatic approach to the USA in these swiftly changing times.

This persistent gap suggests firms are not responding to incentives as expected and that more direct approaches to lifting R&D investment are required to increase Australia’s economic complexity.
