I think I should start identifying as an orcophobe.

By the way, orc ideology is quite popular in Russia:

I know that @frontiersin.bsky.social are trying hard to be taken seriously.

But addressing the problems in the original figure (left) by a completely new set of panels (that also have problems; right) puts them straight back into predatory journal range.

I have been watching this Livestream.

Lots of interesting topics with loads of misinformation, poor policy development, and evidence of selection bias.

Here is a minor, insignificant point that still drove me nuts.

A sad day at NIH...

The NIH Record was a great way for NIH folks to find out what was going on across NIH.

Many important stories published there over the years.

She responded to an early 2025 post by @elisabethbik.bsky.social stating there “was no duplication of images or part thereof.” Judge for yourself. 👇

Nature and Science will now discover that science was never outside of politics, as academic fascists are "reclaiming science"
I'm at the Willard Hotel where I've been denied entry and kicked out of the Reclaiming Science event with NIH director Bhattacharya & other top agency leaders.

@jocelynkaiser.bsky.social and I registered for the event months ago yet were told capacity was full, even as they let in dozens of others.

The Evidence to Recommendations framework ensured that the US vaccine schedule was scientifically sound. Then RFK Jr. abandoned it

I wouldn't wish an hour-long podcast featuring Russ Douthat and Jay Bhattacharya on my worst enemy but let's simply say that Podcast Jay still appears more concerned about perceived slights for his COVID crackpottery than with protecting US biomedical science from a full-on Trump-and-RFK onslaught.

It really is remarkable how little Jay knows about anything COVID-19 related given that it has been his entire platform and area of interest for 6 years.
I mean, wow, this is our NIH Director spouting really bizarre conspiracy theories—saying that public health protections such as shelter in place were tools that states & governments used because they, um, felt guilty about covering up a lab leak that they themselves caused 🤯🤯🤯

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has overhauled a panel that helps the federal government set priorities for autism research and social services, installing several members who have said that vaccines can cause autism despite decades of research that has failed to establish such a link.
