Soccer and birds. A lot of my posts will just be trivia dumps to save my loved ones from having to listen to them in person.
And actually the other teams probably don't suck either. They were #3, 4, and 5 in the world after the US and Canada at 1 and 2.

There was just a visible difference in the speed and strength of the US women against Switzerland and Finland.

I had assumed the US women just laying waste to every team they faced was in part due to the level of competition.

Then this Canada game. I know Canada doesn't suck at hockey, so this US team is just insane.

Jake Paul watching Leerdam in 1000m final really ruined the experience for me. Seeing him in the stands with his personal videographer making sure to get him sobbing on camera felt super performative and insincere and made it feel like her reaction was for the camera from her association with him.

I absolutely love short track speed skating.

Combining talent, skill and absolute chaos is a recipe for success.

I really wish Spurs had finished their season's matchups again Man United before Carrick took over.

When's the last time Man U was scary?

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

Must suck to be Odobert, Tel, and Sarr and start on the bench when 8 of your starters (and the main backup for the centerbacks) are out injured.

It's so cold that my double-coated dog who usually seems to value outside time over physical safety actually doesn't ask to go outside every 15 minutes.

Had to take the day off to get work done on the house. Never know when they'll actually show up or how long it would take so half day wouldn't cut it.

Guy came an hour early and was finished less than 30 minutes after the start of their 10am-1pm window so I just get most of the day off.

Sweet.

Me: there are lots of terrible private schools that offer inferior education to the local public schools like the segregation academies that were the only private schools where I grew up. Maybe it's that.

Reads the article.

Me. Nope. It's not that.

I know it's been a few years, but I still haven't gotten used to Alabama being good at basketball.

Dang, Vandy beat Bama? Vandy must be the real deal.

Seems so weird to say that.

That being said, soccer probably is the only sport that could benefit from increased scoring. Hockey and American football score enough that 0-0 is super rare but rare enough that there's still that big release of tension when it happens.

My sports hot take is that scoring shouldn't be easy. I like basketball, but I'll never like it as much as soccer or hockey because they score too much. Most baskets just aren't exciting until the very end of the game and then only if the game is close.

Thought bright to you by Min 138-142 Den.

I want to make it clear that was supposed to say "he's not bad". Autocorrect annoys me.

If I were Liverpool, I'd be happy they beat Spurs, but I'd be really worried how an underperforming Spurs that was a man down since the 33rd minute had basically twice the XG you had.

New One Punch Man season is annoying. I got into it because I liked the satire of hierarchy and ambition. I also liked the comedy of a guy experiencing ennui because being a superhero was too easy.

This season is all just very sincere ambitious climbers fighting random monsters with bad animation.

Them: You're not staying for the work party?

Me: Not unless they're paying me to stay.

Yep. One was oddly from Dalton, Georgia. I can only assume he found her working in the carpet mines.

I'm assuming that's how they make carpet. Anyway. They make a lot of carpet in Dalton. And 1/3 of the world's supply of Trump wives.

Ok, Igor Jesus. I know that "I. Jesus" is just your first initial and last name on your shirt, but you also play in England* and I don't think there are any other Jesuses on your team so including that initial feels a little narcissistic.

*England only matters because of language.

I think if Mohammed Kudus had been American instead of Ghanaian, he'd be in the NFL right now. With that strength and balance there's no way he wouldn't have been one of those running backs you see take a hit without even stumbling.

Or he'd have been one of the all-time great USMNT players.

I'll never claim to be a great soccer player because I'm not and I don't like to lie.

I will say that my indoor soccer team gives up 5 fewer goals per game on average in the games I play compared to the ones I miss.

Could be they didn't have had enough players though. I don't know. I wasn't there.

I have no idea why UGA's Gunner Stockton was #7 in Heisman voting. Don't get me wrong. He's not back. Really accurate. Very few interceptions, but he wasn't asked to do much. 36th on attempts but only 48th on yards. Almost no rushing. He was a slightly less effective passer than Haynes King.

And speaking of backing into herringbone parking spots, I pulled into the parking lot as this dummy was trying to back in, I parked, grabbed by bag and coffee cup, got out of my car, locked it and was already waking away before this person managed to get into the space (almost).
December 10, 2025 at 12:04 PM
I'm pretty sure I have nothing in common with people who reverse park into herringbone parking spaces. Normal spots, sure. As long as you're not holding up traffic, but the herringbone ones, you're now facing the wrong direction to leave, especially in one way parking lots.
