Thank you for the shout out and support through the CCS grant programs! It’s been an honour to work on AI tools that can improve breast cancer patient outcomes.
Weekly #cancerresearch highlight: @aprilkhademi.bsky.social and her team are using #AI to speed up and improve the accuracy of breast #cancer diagnoses. This could help pathologists with hard diagnostic decisions, leading to better outcomes for people with cancer.

Interesting work. Authors developed an AI model to detect bilateral asymmetry as a breast cancer (BC) risk factor to predict BC risk up to 5yrs in advance. If both breasts had equal risk, how this would work? Either way, great tech & can't wait to see more like this.

With a heavy heart, I've decided to suspend all academic travel to the USA for me and my lab. Given the escalation of tensions and uncertainties, it seems to be the wisest move. To our US colleagues, please be certain that we will continue to do what we can to support you. Science is global.

Interesting study looking at AI-based super resolution (SR) techniques for medical imaging. SR is low hanging fruit in the medical device space as it has a lower (regulatory) barrier to entry, and has a clear ROI (scanning more patients in less time).

US scientists are being told not to use mRNA references on grants. This is similar to removing free speech rights, but for scientists. Being determined by non-scientists.

Does this mean US scientists can no longer *freely* determine what research they work on?

On the day the pandemic was declared five years ago, maybe this is apt.

Denial of airborne transmission of COVID broke the world.

This is exactly why we need scientists being involved with decisions that impact humanity.

Science in the US is under attack.

Given American influence in the world, it’s hard to see how this wouldn’t impact all of us, especially other scientific communities.

As discussed - this act of censoring and getting rid of science is typical of authoritarianism.
