Protecting Solidarity: Countering Attacks on Mutual Aid Funds - Non Profit News | Nonprofit Quarterly
The recent arrest of three bail fund organizers in Atlanta reminds us that opposing the carceral state is not easy. But retreat is not an option.

And it's not just congressional staffers. As Matthew Sitman points out, many legal clerks are much farther right than our current Federalist Society-picked judges.
I can't stress enough how young staffers working for Republicans are basically all groyper Nazis now. The leaked texts yesterday saying "I love Hitler" and now swastikas on congressional offices.

Trump signs an EO declaring Antifa (not a real organization) a domestic terrorist organization (not a real legal category).
Designating Antifa as a Domestic Terrorist Organization

This also puts leftists in an awkward position of defending liberal institutions that we're accustomed to critiquing (e.g. the Ford Foundation), but nothing less than a united front of solidarity is needed right now.
The whole 'this foundation didn't actually fund the organization Vance is vilifying' defense reminds me of "but is crime really up [in this city Trump wants to run a military invasion of]"—it zeroes in on something that just can't be the bottom line if we're going to wage a real fight.

for real though: a lot of strategies the left needs to win *are* cringe (e.g. people's assemblies, knocking on doors, literal relational organizing, etc).
