I respect the hell out of folks like @katmabu.bsky.social who are actually walking the walk *in addition to* talking the talk. More people, never mind candidates for elected office, should be like her.
When I launched my campaign, I said I wanted to do politics differently… and we’re actually doing it.

Thank you to Jessica Washington and @theintercept.com for covering the most exciting and rewarding part of this campaign: theintercept.com/2025/12/26/k...

Patiently waiting for all of the supposedly progressive Christian denominations (looking at you, Episcopal Church) to loudly and forcefully denounce the Trump Administration, along with the christian fundamentalists who unequivocally back him.
The Trump administration celebrated Christmas on Thursday by posting a series of religious messages from official government accounts, using language that drew criticism from those who pointed to America's separation of church and state.
Trump Administration Emphasizes Religion in Official Christmas Messages
Government officials have traditionally steered clear of such overtly religious language, as the Constitution prohibits the establishment of an official state religion.

Melissa McCoul should sue the everliving hell out of Texas A&M. What an abominable institution.
Texas A&M University will not reinstate a lecturer who was fired after a video of her teaching about gender identity in a children’s literature class went viral, despite a faculty appeals panel unanimously concluding that her dismissal was not justified.
Texas A&M won’t reinstate fired lecturer despite findings
A vice chancellor upheld the firing of Melissa McCoul, seen in a viral video being confronted by a student on her gender identity teachings, saying the termination was done with “good cause.”

She has been the president of the AFT for nearly two decades because the vast majority of labor unions in the U.S. are completely defanged institutions.
Randi has a storied history of being on the wrong side of key political issues when big money is involved (see also: healthcare). Almost makes you wonder why this person has been president of one of the biggest labor unions in the U.S. for *seventeen* years now.

One of the rarest of occurrences: a Supreme Court W.
NEW: By a 6-3 vote, the Supreme Court blocks Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Chicago to assist immigration agents. A majority holds that he likely lacks authority to do so. Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

The entire Trump Administration should be (peacefully) removed from office. Immediately.

there’s so many reasons we need to abolish ICE
ICE agents illegally break into a woman's bathroom in a NY nutrition bar manufacturing plant. "Pull up your pants," says a male agent. The agents only had a warrant to review employer documents. They didn't have a warrant to search for, detain, or arrest anyone there.

NEW: The Trump administration announced a harmful new proposal that would block access to essential gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth across the country.

If this discriminatory regulation moves forward, we will see this administration in court.

A few months ago, the German Physical Society and German Meteorological Society said that we face the possibility of hitting 3 degrees of warming by 2050. The fact that the EU just did this in response must be seen as climate change denialism.
What this means after intense lobbying by German car makers is that due to economies of scale they’ll produce only high end internal combustion cars which means rich people get to carry on polluting, so that’s nice www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
EU waters down plans to end new petrol and diesel car sales by 2035
Carmakers, particularly in Germany, have lobbied heavily for concessions to the planned rules.

all the articles you read about this will say it "would charge doctors" but there is nothing in the bill limiting the felony crime to medical providers. you could write "would charge parents" and be just as correct. news outlets downplay it because news outlets are transphobic.

The Trump Administration is able to kill and maim non-white people here and abroad because every other presidential administration in my lifetime (from Bill Clinton onward) has done something similar.
The White House is now just explicitly stating its intent to kill and maim non-white people here and around the world and white men are *still* insisting they are at a societal disadvantage

The speech Donald Trump is giving in a little over 25 hours is more than likely a declaration of war against Venezuela. I really hope I’m wrong.
Trump: "Venezuela is completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled ... It will only get bigger, and the shock to them will be like nothing they have ever seen before — Until such time as they return to the USA all of the Oil, Land, and other Assets that they previously stole from us."

if capital can't justify the operating costs of a newspaper in every city over a few hundred thousand people (even though this worked profitably for decades) i think it's up to the federal government to fund them and if red states don't like a bunch of big city libs reporting on them, all the better
"The newspaper industry served as a feeder for our entire news media ecosystem. So when we lose those newspapers, we've lost that journalism. In the early 2000s, we had 40 journalists per 100,000 people. We're now down to 8 journalists per 100,000 people," says @victorpickard.bsky.social.
