MY UNDESIRABLE FRIENDS: PART 1 - LAST AIR IN MOSCOW, an accidental front-row seat to the shutdown of Russian independent journalism as Putin's invasion of Ukraine begins, may be the best movie of 2025.

It lands in NYC tomorrow.

🚨 Big news 5 years in the making: some friends and I made a documentary! 1000 WOMEN IN HORROR hits Shudder soon, directed by Donna Davies and inspired by my 2020 book of the same name

If you are in Australia, I hope you can make it to the world premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival
1000 Women in Horror
From the silent era until today, the nightmares that have haunted our screen have been sculpted and embodied by women, but many of those artists have gone....

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process.

But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things.

That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife.

While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE.

This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

From an operational security perspective, this is the highest level of fuckup imaginable. These people cannot keep America safe.

One thing everyone should understand is that DOGE has created the least efficient conditions for government I've ever seen.
*The working conditions are chaotic.
*No clear sense of who works there.
*Routine processes have been stopped.
*No planning can take place.
*People are incredibly demoralized.
“Nobody feels like their job is safe. Everyone is on edge,” said Kim Hasenkrug, an NIH scientist emeritus… “Even the top people can’t keep track because they’re hiring and firing so much. Direct supervisors of those who were terminated didn’t even know that it was happening.”
At NIH, ‘everyone is on edge’ as they brace for deep cuts and more centralized control
As the NIH braces for cuts of up to 5,000 of its 20,000 positions, “people are scrambling and freaking out,” a researcher said.

My mom helped run a Social Security field office for most of my childhood. The population that these locations serve is overwhelmingly disabled, elderly, poor or some combination thereof. That’s who they’re looking to deny services and resources.
NEW: Elon Musk’s team has descended on an already understaffed Social Security Administration, which now faces further workforce cuts and closures of vital local offices. The consequences could be significant for millions of the most vulnerable Americans.

I believe the studios should set aside space at multiplexes for important films and artists whenever someone important passes away. This would deepen the appreciation of film history for the curious average viewer and give space to all those looking to engage in something akin to a cultural funeral.
