VISIBILITY. But what’s up with that 30%?
Our visibility matters.

As anti-equality forces wish to cast our community aside, recent data reports that more than 9 in 10 LGBTQ people are out to at least one person in their lives.

For those who can, we must continue to be out, proudly and defiantly. https://pewrsr.ch/3L4HcAh

We ❤️ a plan to save free and fair elections. And we are all in.
It's vital that we have free and fair elections in 2026, even amid the federal government's unprecedented campaign to undermine them. That's where the Brennan Center comes in. Donald Trump has his plan; so do we.

Inclusive education is the bedrock of democracy.
Since the launch of the Second Chance Pell Experimental Sites Initiative (SCP) in 2016, more than 45,000 incarcerated students have enrolled in SCP programs. Today, there are more than 750,000 people in prison eligible to enroll in a postsecondary program.

Drinking water, watersheds, and national monuments are linked.
Drinking water for more than 13 million Americans is directly supplied by watersheds within or downstream of national monuments—monuments that are now under attack by the Trump administration.

#AoCChecklist is in the house! ❤️💜💚🧡💛 In the words of team Can-Do-Ologist Marissa Bracke, we’re back to help people feel less alone or unsure in their urge to do something, to remind people that hope is alive and our actions are its breath, and to offer direction where fear has muddled the path.

The Right to Read Act expands federal investment in literacy, strengthens school library staffing and collections, supports family literacy programs, and protects students' freedom to access diverse materials in their schools 👏📚⤵️
A Federal Right to Read Act has been reintroduced by Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and U.S. Rep Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ).

We’re thankful for this legislation.

Our freedom to read and learn should not be a state’s rights issue!

Let’s change the system AND help youth become engaged in democracy.
FACT: under 30% of 18-year-olds are registered to vote in midterm cycles, vs 75% of those age 45+
FACT: 70% of US teens live in states where they can PRE-register at 16 or 17
So why isn't it happening? It's not apathy, it's systems that aren't designed for them.

Help Americans get the ID they need to vote. Take #AoCChecklist Action 10.

5 stages of climate advocacy:

1. realizing it’s getting real
2. recycling like it’s your side hustle
3. realizing half of it is greenwashing, and what we really need is accountability + systemic change
4. realizing your voice is your superpower
5. jumping into advocacy like it’s a whole personality

📚⬇️💯 Terrific article. The freedom to read is a cornerstone of democracy!
Do you care about critical thinking, empathy, and the future of our democracy?

Access to diverse books strengthens civic engagement and resists censorship that threatens democratic values.

Restricting what we can read actually weakens our society.

Why the Freedom to Read Is Essential for a Healthy Democracy
Access to diverse books builds critical thinking, empathy, and civic engagement; censorship harms democracy, weakens inquiry, and silences essential voices, especially marginalized ones.

If we want AI systems to be safe, trustworthy, and non-discriminatory, the AI Civil Rights Act is how we start ⬇️
AI systems are making decisions about who gets a loan, receives a job offer, is eligible for parole, and more — and often in ways that have a disparate impact on protected groups.

To ensure safety, trustworthiness, and non-discrimination, Congress must pass the AI Civil Rights Act.
AI is Infringing on Your Civil Rights. Here’s How We Can Stop That | ACLU
By supporting the AI Civil Rights Act of 2025, Congress can take a monumental step to protect our civil rights in the digital age.
