BMC has published one of the last papers of @IMAFungus on a joint effort of Brazilian mycologists, who gave a nice overview on their edible mushrooms. Several papers will soon be published by @PENSOFT in January (new homepage imafungus.pensoft.net)

Sadly I didn't get to eat my banana for lunch today. Happily I got something new to isolate from! 🧪 If this is caused by a fungus I'll soon find out. #mycology #plantpathology

3 years ago I thought fungal taxonomy was impossible because there are so many to discover! But I realise that every small contribution matters 😊

We use the phrase "social butterfly" to describe a very social person, but are butterflies actually social? I thought many of them are solitary creatures. Or is it we think they are social due to their showy appearances?

Almost at the end of my PhD program and it does makes me wonder how one chooses to enter academia as faculty member or become a postdoc researcher? 😶

I guess I successfully defended my research.

2 sentences in my manuscript required 45 hours of data analysis.
45 hours of analysis needed 6 weeks in the wet lab, itself galvanized from months of field work and YEARS of other researchers' insights.

Science takes time. It takes people...

Also, remember to wear sunscreen during field season.

😂 not so long ago, *submitting* sequences to GenBank meant sending them on 5.25" floppy disks 👀 from germany to the USA via airmail 📨

It feels funny when you feel pressured to graduate on time for PhD. What is on time even?

Late night travel is ok. Not arriving late night. The latter is not ok. 😭
