This is a massive barrier to me considering an EV. Where would I charge it and would it be expensive at a public charging point? Those who live in properties with no ability for home charging are currently severely disadvantaged. Good to see the balance shifting.
🔌 Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers who are able to rely on at-home charging have already been benefitting from lower running costs compared to petrol vehicles, but new analysis from The Times now shows that drivers relying solely on public charging are also saving money.

Not ideal my son now going to primary school in Oadby. It's a trek from Coalville. Today I parked 'my' side of Leicester and cycled the rest of the way on the excellent @rideleicester.bsky.social infra. You just need to sort out the A6 now! (You can plug your consultation in the replies)

The evidence in favour of 20 mph speed limits is overwhelming, cheaper insurance, less emissions, less car crashes, it saves the NHS, Police and councils money. But Gary from Port Talbot's commute now takes 42 minutes instead of 40 so it simply must go.

I am sickened by the relentless demonisation of refugees.

No refugee underfunded a school.

No refugee closed a hospital.

No refugee took away support from the sick and disabled.

We need solutions not scapegoats. Stop blaming refugees and tax the rich instead!

The Leicester Critical Mass, in its heyday, was brilliant! A real party atmosphere. 200+ people riding around in fancy dress and then enjoying a social afterwards in a bar. Adults, kids, a real spectacle! Is it time to bring it back? @timmorton2.bsky.social @rideleicester.bsky.social
Interesting and thought-provoking little video on the evolution of Critical Mass.

Your annual reminder to watch for cyclists. This time seven years ago I was lying in the road after a motorist pulled out in front of me and then braked. With nowhere to go I hit the back of the car. There is still slight numbness underneath my right nostril.

The National Travel Survey shows:

⬆️ Bus trips up 15% (outside London)
⬆️ Train trips up 9%
⬆️ Distance travelled by train up a whopping 20%

There's high demand for public transport... BUT we shouldn't forget most trips are still made by car.

Much more work to be done.
