This piece in @forbes.com describes the keynote I gave at the @oxmartinschool.bsky.social LEAP conference this week

I make the case that biophysical limits and a shrinking safe climatic space means an inevitable plant-based shift. Video of the talk coming soon!

I can’t begin to comprehend the fear, anguish, terror, desperation & helplessness farmed animals feel.

It’s crippling to me just witnessing it; to experience it I can’t comprehend.

Humans need to acknowledge that all animals are sentient, experiencing emotion. This is not unique to humans.

Think about all the land we could free up, rewild and give back to nature if governments, businesses and citizens pursued a serious protein shift away from animal products.

Giving more space to nature again will also be key to protecting ourselves better against extreme weather events to come. ⛑️🏞🌳
No-brainer for plant based!

"Combining the land used for grazing with the land used to grow animal feed, we find animal agriculture uses around 29% of Earth’s land. All other agriculture – for plant-based food, biofuels, and other uses – comprises the remaining 9%."
