Any violence against our uniformed service members on U.S. streets is tragic, made all the more so by how unnecessary the deployments are in the first place.

It is also exactly what President Trump and his loyalists want: Violence they incited as pretext for marshal law.

In economics they teach us that paying workers more than the market rate is harmful because it means a company can’t afford to hire as many workers. It’s important to realize that overpaying executives and shareholders does that too while helping fewer people.
Tyson is closing a Nebraska plant that employs 3,200 workers in order to “right-size” its business.

The meatpacking giant paid its CEO $22.7M last year, 525x its median employee's pay.

It also spent $196M in stock buybacks to reward shareholders.

Textbook corporate greed.

You see it over and over in corporations too. They fly in a bunch of people who know nothing about how an organization functions, lay off key workers, mess up delicate systems and then wonder why nothing is working anymore and staff morale is so low.
