This weird feeling after finally submitting a manuscript that's been too long in the making, like I'm able to close a chapter of my life, but in a sense, the real game is just starting...

I'll be sharing my paper at Harvard's “Migration & Immigrant Incorporation” Workshop on Sep 30.

This is (to my knowledge) the first to merge 13 waves of the Pew National Survey of Latinos.

I traced TWENTY years of trends in (anti)-immigration attitudes among Hispanic Americans. Join me!

Thrilled to see the first review of my book in International Migration Review:

"In Our Interest is a gift... Empirically rigorous, theoretically generative, and normatively pragmatic, [it] is that rare book that will reshape the debate."

🚨 My review of In Our Interest: How Democracies Can Make Immigration Popular is forthcoming (!) in International Migration Review. The book is just out, by @akoustov.bsky.social, and offers a bold take on migration politics. I look up to his work, so it feels unreal that IMR asked me to review it.

Are you an early bird attending #ASA2025? Grab your coffee and join us bright and early this Saturday :).

I'm presenting on the surprising findings of immigration and right-wing movements. I'll discuss why some immigrants hold seemingly contradictory opinions.

Not sure if I cleaned the data or the data cleaned me. After wrangling 20 years of Pew Hispanic surveys, a harmonized dataset now exists. So does a slightly more harmonized me (maybe).

Last month, I wrote a book review as part of Prof. Jake Watson’s grad seminar. Being the savvy mentor that he is, he encouraged me to reach out to International Migration Review. They were interested, and today, I officially submitted my review.

Nothing like finals week to make me wildly fantasize about all I’ll accomplish in the three months of summer. The self-expectations are are high, the calendars are color-coded, and the delusion is fully operational. 🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️🙇🏻‍♂️

So excited to see this out in the world—I’ve been looking forward to this remote control piece. Congrats to my advisor on this timely pub! 📄👏🏼
Read how the U.S. systematically externalized its borders using health controls beginning in the 1800s, laying the groundwork for controls that were repurposed during the Covid-19 and Title 42 era to keep out asylum seekers.
