My Bsky pal @brosninja.bsky.social 👇 is correct about green bean casserole. And my longtime social-media-pro pal @annhandley.bsky.social has written engagingly about the classic Campbell's recipe for green bean casserole as a brilliant piece of content marketing:

My mother died from lung cancer caused by asbestos. She didn’t work w/ it; her father did: She breathed in fibers he brought home on his clothes. Years later, it killed her. She was 60.

Her death was terrible & also a metaphor for how reckless decisions cause permanent harm in heartbreaking ways.

Super fun to be a writing judge in this experiment — thanks to @geoffreyfowler @washingtonpost 🤖
Which AI bot is best at writing? There was one clear winner in a test I just published @washingtonpost.com

I had ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude and a human (me!) draft 5 different kinds of tough emails. Then I asked 5 communication pros to judge them. wapo.st/3FFo34V

This is how @hcrichardson.bsky.social begins her letter today. There’s no simpler, more accurate way to frame this:

“Today, President Trump ambushed Ukraine president Zelensky in an attack that seemed designed to give the White House an excuse for siding with Russia in its war on Ukraine.”

The point was (and, for that matter, continues to be) to make you care more about the app than democracy.

Brands who write playful copy are my favorite.

PS Not “brands THAT write…” because while that’s technically more accurate… my first impulse was to think of the pint of black cherry choco chip as a “who.” Which is the point, ya know? #copywriting

Winter sky showing ✨ How to Solstice ✨ like a champ

It’s Winter Solstice. Each day, we get 1 min more of sunlight.

I used to barely acknowledge it. But 1 year, teens in my neighborhood asked us to put lit candles outside at dusk. We walked around, looking at them.

Some of us friends, some of us strangers, together celebrating a sliver of light.

Thank you for your email. As you are likely aware, I am mentally checked out until 2025 and will be unable to provide a response to your inquiry until then. If you have any questions, that’s unfortunate.
