@zugzwanged.bsky.social I'm pretty sure I just saw you and your wife on the canal whilst on my run in Chester... thought I was imagining it as was listening to something you'd written at the time!

This is possibly the best podcast episode I've heard all year. It was deeply moving, and full of rich wisdom. I was in tears at several points. It encouraged me to slow down and ponder on the richness of the everyday

I get asked this a lot by my students. I think this is a great answer
I'm frequently asked, often by worried healthcare students, whether it's 'wrong' to show our emotions when we are supporting patients & their beloveds through difficult times, unwelcome news, anticipatory grief & deep sorrow.

Here's my experience:

Christian evangelist @glenscrivener.bsky.social joined me at the University of Sussex to discuss whether Christianity is the root of contemporary moral values! Check out our discussion on his YouTube channel here - a model of respectful interreligious engagement, imo!

Today's performative clampdown on migrants will gut our care homes of desperately needed staff.

We are *already* short of over 150k carers.

Banning foreign care workers will only exacerbate this - increasing suffering of society's most vulnerable members & pressures on the NHS.

It's madness.

My direct appeal to @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social
& Keir_Starmer in the light of yesterday's vote on AD.

If they sincerely care about dying people, surely now they will publicly & urgently commit to properly funding our threadbare, neglected palliative care?

Good palliative care can alleviate the pain of dying – this bill means Labour must fund it | Rachel Clarke
Making dying easier is not the solution when NHS, social and palliative care are simply not there for patients

The Assisted Dying bill currently before Parliament makes worrying reading. Here's a reminder about the gaps in services recently identified by the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome & Death, for people with limited life expectancy.
The timing of this bill is simply wrong.
Timely report into current planning & coordination of end of life care: National Confidedential Enq into Pt Outcomes & Death shows gaps in services, breaching 2019 NICE guidance for commissioning & providing adequate, timely planning & delivery of #EoL care & access to palliative care teams.
