It was so strange. I am writing a PhD and was getting out for a run to clear my head. I was listening to " A secular age"... the essay you wrote, when, on the canal I heard your voice...I would have stopped to say something...but really thought I was imagining it!

There can be unwritten agendas. I submitted a piece of qualitative research to a paper which was rejected... when I looked at what else they published there was very little qualitative.

I have for Physiotherapy articles...but they provided me with feedback as to why it basically didn't meet the standard for inclusion.

I love Dwell. It's great for memorising as you can loop a few verses. I've used prayer mate when I used the train for my commut but now I rarely do I have reverted to find being on my phone distracting if I'm trying to pray...so have reverted to index cards

Is there a half way house? I use zotero. I ensure that everything I use goes into there as I write ( or even makes notes in preparation to write). I then use that to generate an in text citation. Still need to go back at the end to add full ref...but then I'm always thankful I did it!

I'm not even sure how common the denominators are. I lecture Physiotherapy. I needed a Masters , and am now doing a PhD. My job is a mixture of teaching, student support and admin. Some places they ask for a PhD. I have a teaching qualification, but did that on the job

I'm a lecturer at a Russell group university. My sister is a senior lecturer at a non Russell group...but they are effectively the same jobs... just different names. The qualifications and responsibilities would vary from institution to institution, and across different disciplines.

You are right about words shaping meaning. Words matter

For lots of my friends with 4 kids, there was an element of surprise with the last one. I have just the 3, but would have liked more. I just liked having lots of children. No militancy involved. Kids are fun... and now they are mostly all adults they are even more fun

I adapt this one...cook the onion in the microwave first, then throw it all in, add the coconut milk at the end
Curried Sweet Potato Soup - River Cottage
Enjoy this warming soup on a cold evening, where the heat of the spices is perfectly balanced by the sweetness of coconut milk and a splash of lime.

I found this really interesting, but also disturbing, as I recognised myself. I can have a lack of hospitality towards those who think differently to me. I can be tribal.
