Thank you to the supporters who testified and shared your stories and to Councilwoman @annahernandezaz.bsky.social who was the only councilmember to enthusiastically support this measure. You all made a difference!

This is the kind of good ol boys deal that would happen with a handshake without scrutiny if it weren’t for Councilmember @annahernandez calling out the poor decision-making & lack of community input. Another reminder of how crucial it is to have a community-driven leader like her on this council.

I’m here for all these budget crash outs from both sides of the aisle 🤣🤣🤣

Guess some legislators didn’t get their way this year in the budget 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣

Exactly why I fight against expanding the scope and power of policing in our cities.
This is what @annahernandezaz.bsky.social has been screaming from the mountaintops for years.
What's happening in LA is a stark reminder that local police departments will do nothing to protect you. They are there to enforce federal policy when they chose to - and they are choosing to now.

Democratic Mayors have ZERO control over police, that's a position they've LONG chosen to have.

Trump is trying to stifle climate momentum to appease his Big Oil donors, but local leaders like @annahernandezaz.bsky.social are rejecting fossil fuel money and winning seats in which they are pushing climate action forward.

The @arizonastateuni.bsky.social Morrison Institute for Public Policy puts the housing shortage statewide at 270,000 homes. And no wonder when large-lot single family housing is dominant & as-of-right allowances for multi-family housing in the region are just those areas in purple (NZA screenshot):

New op-ed: Arizona zoning needs reform. Phoenix electeds recently cited @zoningatlas.bsky.social data showing that suburbs devote as little as 1% of their land to multi-family housing: archive.is/QYJz3 Legislators should use the NZA (www.zoningatlas.org/atlas) to come up with data-driven solutions.

The militarization of 🧊 pickups should be a ghastly concern to everyone including any limited government conservative.

This is outright authoritarianism and should be denounced by every single one of us, independent of our views on immigration.

We will continue to see Democrats at all levels of government continue this right of center move, then will wonder why they will continue to take electoral loses.

Dems didn’t lose because of the messaging of the right. They lost because they failed to address improving our material conditions.

Interesting test case against Phoenix PD in trial right now.

It’s not the biggest or most high-profile.

But it’s the first protest-related lawsuit to go before a jury since the DOJ’s damning report.

And the judge has let the report in as evidence.

Gallego long abandoned his pseudo-progressive position. He ran on police endorsements & making demands to end the investigation into the violently corrupt Phoenix PD after the DOJ found they routinely discriminate against POC and harass unsheltered people. Now he’s going with yes on the fascist act

Sedona POV, but make it housing solutions:

Step 1: Pass ordinance to let workers sleep in their cars in parking lots for a fee.

Step 2: Say no to allowing workers to sleep in their cars in parking lots.

Step 3: Say “no” to all new housing.
