Just a bit of #music to distract from these trying times; one of (if not the best) live version of this tune I've heard: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnwW... #allthemwitches

Dunno if it's just the current political climate but people are starting to get awfully grumpy and downright nasty even in discussions that aren't political.

Bluesky now downgraded from highschool edgelord level shenanigans to angry kindergarten toddler level shenanigans.

On locked landline phones you could dial by tapping the disconnect hook the proper amount of times...
Without revealing your actual age, what's something you remember that if you told a younger person they wouldn't understand?

Oh how much fun boatyards are. Pricing for 2026 was just published. *100* fucking euros per *15 minutes* to get someone to do something with a telehandler. I mean, jesus fuck my eye christ I know boating is expensive but we're not all shitting gold bricks.

I mean... 1/2

Of course that list wasn't created in good faith, that much was obvious. It's like Bluesky blocklists, but as a git repo. Ironic considering git is supposedly on the list.

Very much big "rules for thee but not for me" vibes all over :D
oh huh social shunning is the original explicit statement of purpose prior to the repo's existence. interesting. so it seems like the neutral "raise awareness" framing is just a flat out lie. the purpose of the list is to exert social pressure on the maintainers / contributors of the listed projects

Woke up at 5am again - I can't get a handle on my sleep schedule it seems. Either I go to bed too late and wake up too late or I go to bed early and wake up early. I can't ever seem to find that sweet spot of going to bed at a decent hour and waking up at a decent hour.

Urgh.

This pretty much sums up the early days of the internet for me. I have some fond memories of rummaging through places I shouldn't have been for no other reason than to see how it worked.

My ancient phone (bought in 2019) finally ceased working so I spent this morning getting a new phone and coming to terms with how utterly enshittified Android has become. Going from Android 8 (yes... :P) to 15 is like, urgh.

I'm thinking I need to root this thing and get Lineage or something else

i had a dream last night that my PDS was lost because it was running on a disposable vape that had a battery malfunction and caught fire. because the vape hardware was weak backups were disabled so i lost my data.

note that it was also a vape i was using, so it was a dual purpose vape.

I'm feeling a little disappointed, it's been absolutely balls cold for a week now, and while *everywhere* seems to be getting snow, my region isn't. Not a damn flake. Nothing.

I mean, I'd probably bitch about it if it did but I've not seen actual real proper snow in like a decade...

So a little ATproto service I sort of semi-vibed together for shits and giggles; Blavatar! It's like Gravatar, but for Bluesky. Code here: tangled.org/angrydutchma... - docker image (if you want to run your own) can be had from atcr.io/r/angrydutch... - I've deployed it on my own infra for...
January 6, 2026 at 4:39 PM
@atcr.io I keep getting 500 errors when trying to push an image, docker isn't really forthcoming with any other errors so I'm kind of lost :D

Well, looks like in 12 days I'll be officially unemployed, after 10 years working at a brilliant place with brilliant co-workers. Kind of sucks because getting a 100% remote job that doesn't spy on you every minute of a workday seems like a long shot, and after nearly 15 years of not doing a 9-5...
