Yeah, although for instance Germany has exceptions for art, but then it's like, what's the definition of art? :D And it's just a difficult subject in general, which probably explains why there's so many different takes on it :D

... a hella fun jurisdictional soup to stir. However, I trust you and the other folks on my PDS to basically just use common sense, I assume we're all supposedly capable of adulting from time to time so I trust y'all to "Do The Right Thing(tm)" :D
But, I will give that link a read tomorrow :)

... because it's a bit of a novel concept altogether, so I want to kind of make sure the PDS isn't going to get banhammered, and I don't have to deal with potential reports. The irony is that the PDS is in Germany, but I'm in France, so depending on how things shake out (if things go kaka) that's...

I'll give it a read! Basically terms wise on the PDS it always just boils down to (in the end) use common sense and all is well; the reason for the "no minor-looking artsy stuff plz" bit is more that there's no real legal reference for things like distributed/decentralized/federated social media...

But then again, why care? Most people subscribing to modlists like that aren't the ones you want to be talking to anyway... or at least, that's what I find :D

Yeah I did that for testing something not realizing I'm not at home on my unmetered fiber connection but on my boat on a 4G setup that has limited data (well, 350Gb). Ate up a good chunk of it and had to buy some extra because I couldn't watch movies anymore all of a sudden 🤣

Yep, they are - except if you tell them that then suddenly you're anti-whatever and then the dogpile begins, or you get blocked and shit gets talked behind your back, and so on. It's very... highschool clique. And I barely remember highschool, too old for that shit :D

PDS doesn't emit anything for a blob, btw. Not saying a non-reference implementation won't, but "just a blob" isn't a record, it has to be referred to by something.

That's pretty pricey, either it's a very large instance or someone's fudging the pricing some. For that money you can have pretty much an entire ATproto stack (relay, bluesky appview) for like 100k users easy enough with room to spare.

It does, but it's based on Nixery which, well, it works for a lot of apps but I need a pipeline that builds a Perl app, and then does a docker build/docker push and it seems running a docker build job "doesn't go very well(tm)".

2/2 the good thing is that I'll probably be able to fire up the public instance tomorrow and put things on Tangled (although it'll still be a mirror of my gitlab because I need the ability to build docker containers which Tangled doesn't let me do right now (unless that got fixed recently))

Don't say it too loud because you'll get shit from people who *insist* that won't be the case. The sheer mental gymnastics required to assume that Bluesky can't ban you from Bluesky's house is... oof.

Simple, you put a space at the beginning of your post, and just set the start/end byte range for the mention to 0-1 and presto. Apparently it's valid to do this according to the lexicon, but Bluesky's appview doesn't actually do any sort of sanity checking on it so it will happily process it.
