Twitch just created a new carve-out to allow crypto gambling advertising on the platform.

The Counter-Strike StarLadder Budapest Major is an upcoming esports tournament that is sponsored by a crypto gambling website. Normally, this would make streaming it prohibited.
In a statement provided to Dexerto, Twitch said: “While the StarLadder CS Major will be streamed on Twitch, the Rollbit event sponsorship does not violate our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, as the event and sponsor have agreed to limit the sponsorship during the stream to physical branding only.” As stated in our Community Guidelines, we specifically prohibit the sharing of links or affiliate codes to sites that contain slots, roulette, or dice games. While Rollbit is a prohibited site, that prohibition is specifically for streaming content directly from that site, linking to the site in chat, including a banner in stream that links to the site or verbally referring to the website on stream. As such, the sole use of physical branding does not violate these terms.”

I know we don’t like Dan Clancy but he’s not the guy to yell at for this one. Name and shame this god awful security vendor. Figure out why the vendor manager failed to hire what was needed. Shut down the programming staff who decided meet and greets were required. This situation is so upsetting

Twitch made a public statement about the Emiru incident at Twitchcon.
The safety and security of all those attending TwitchCon is our highest priority. The behavior displayed by the individual involved in the incident yesterday involving a high profile streamer was completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting. In line with existing TwitchCon security protocols, law enforcement and event security were on site and responded to the incident. We immediately blocked this individual from returning to the TwitchCon premises, and they are banned indefinitely from Twitch, both online and in-person events. We are coordinating with the impacted creator’s team and, per our standard protocols, continue to cooperate with any law enforcement investigations. We have increased security at the Meet & Greet attendee check-in point and will have additional security personnel surrounding participating streamers. If you’ve RSVPed for a Meet & Greet, please note that we are unable to accommodate +1s for the remainder of the event. Twitch has zero tolerance for harassment or acts that inhibit the safety and security of our community.

It was #IndigenousPeoplesDay yesterday and I didn’t hear anything about this Alaska typhoon until today? Maybe legacy media that I don’t consume anymore touched on it, but I somehow doubt it.
