Progressive politics. Human Rights. Shooty puck. Video games. Retro things. Board games. The power of the riff compels me. Operating somewhere on the EM spectrum.

The only channel that adequately addresses the dearth of costume design in the philosophy video essay space. Another excellent episode.
The new episode of Philosophy Tube is about birth rates, ageing populations, and moral panics. Check it out! 👶

An amazing panel of some of the key Nintendo employees behind the NES launch in the US.
Y'all, I know two hours is a big time commitment, but this panel I arranged and hosted last month is one of the most important things I've ever done for video game history. The launch of the NES is a crazier story than most people realize, and my guests were extremely generous with their memories.
Hear about the NES US launch 40 years ago from the people that made it happen: Gail Tilden, Bruce Lowry and Lance Barr with @frankcifaldi.bsky.social from the @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social moderating! Panel recording at youtu.be/f2WDfsiLiRA

Always appreciate @mattsitman.bsky.social and @samadlerbell.bsky.social ability to dissect the ideologies informing the administration’s actions. The latest episode also makes the great point that the longevity of our Presidential centered government is an actual instance of American exceptionalism

The music cuts off awkwardly before the end, but this is an incredible NYC Halloween costume compilation.

Always enjoy @hannahritchie.bsky.social talking about climate, and her gray area podcast (w/ Sean Illing) appearance was no exception. Climate optimism mixed with practical, actionable information without moral absolutism that causes many to disengage or give in to despair.

I would love for a sci-fi game to give the concept of the fitness landscape a serious consideration. Not ALL games have to center around shaggable aliens (looking at you Mass Effect).

Now is an especially important time to support your local food pantry as families face the loss of SNAP benefits in November.

@joshuacitarella.bsky.social has the addressed the male gym-> right wing pipeline with both Yung Chomsky and Mike Israetel now. I think it a manifestation of the appeal to accomplishment fallacy that underlies a lot of libertarian ideology. A close cousin is the divine fallacy seen in affluent.

Thoroughly enjoyed @seanmcarroll.bsky.social discussion with Dmitri Tymoczko on the underlying mathematical relationships in music composition being ignorant in musical theory myself. Gives an even greater appreciation for the intuitive understand of some of history’s greatest talents in the field.

Wrapped up Silent Hill 2 Remake. First played the original on Xbox over 20 years ago. This one holds up well and the story hits just as hard, now with an adult’s perspective. Congrats Bloober Team.
