🎶 The road is long, we carry on, try to have fun in the meantime 🎶

Music, books, beer, cats, messing around on my bike.
Just had an email about tonight’s gig 👂👂

808 State performing ex:el in Dublin😊 Completely joyful experience, Ellen Beth Abdi doing a great job as both Bernard Sumner and Björk, what a singer she is! Fantastic show, I know some of you are looking forward to seeing them soon 😊 So good to see lots of youngsters there too 👍

A bit perplexed by this page in my #Dublin guidebook. The only thing they haven’t labelled is the most mysterious: a piece of greenery, and I’ve never seen anything like *that* in a fried breakfast before.

I’m going in. Anticipating an uneasy but hopefully fascinating couple of weeks.

First bike ride in some time, where else, it’s Budleigh Salterton 😊 The beach huts have been taken down, and the cafe had run of crab sandwiches, but gorgeous views as always. Weather crazily warm. Exhausted now.

#JustFinished “Victorian Psycho” by Virginia Feito - what a book, pitch-black, gory and hilarious, with some staggering one-liners! 😂 Absolutely vile behaviour, and I’m not (just) talking about our “heroine”, who is rightly incandescent. A great read 👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Last #SimpleThings act of last night for me (I’m pretty old you know) was Clark at the Beacon, an aural battering, had to go to bed after that! Highly recommend the annual Simple Things festival at Bristol, surely something for everyone and a great bargain too! See you next year?

I’m behind on the #SimpleThings posts: Eiko Ishibashi and band (thanks @drtechnical.bsky.social 😊), the always-brilliant @kaylapainter.bsky.social at the MegaScreen, and These New Puritans - intense. A great day already 🙏

Absolutely incredible start to the day, Rachika Nayar and Nina Keith performing their ‘Disiniblud’ album, what a sound that was! I only heard it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, a real privilege to see them live, wonderful 🙏🎶

4th and final part of the Devonshire Heartland Way, Crediton to Stoke Canon. 11 miles, some beautiful scenery, some tedious miles to be honest! Crazy, worrying weather for November, 17 degrees and sunny. A well-earned pint in the Stoke Canon Inn, a lovely community-run pub! 😊🍻

Wonderful to hear that this beautiful photo by Jaiyana Chelikha, which is featured in our current Flow zine, has been shortlisted for the British Journal of Photography's Portrait of Britain.

Many congratulations Jaiyana!

Had a go at baking cheesy soda bread, turned out well, really delicious! Simple to make too. Only problem is I’ve had 4 slices already 😬

Many thanks to @mirandakitten.bsky.social for inspiration and recipe 😊🙏

I’d never heard of the Ottery St Mary Tar Barrels before moving to Devon. Went to see it one year, it’s a spectacular, slightly worrying and potentially dangerous sight! This year it is being streamed live on the BBC iPlayer 😊👇

Really lovely Sunday evening at Exeter Phoenix - Matt Deighton and Kathryn Williams, what a beautiful voice she has, and she’s funny too! Superb musicianship from the pair, do go and see them if you can 🙏🎶
